Fraser Island is a heritage-listed island and is the largest sand island in the world. It's also the only place in the world where you can find rainforests based on sand with historic trees that exceed 200m in height.
Fraser Island boasts a wonderful cultural history, with the first inhabitants dating back to over 5000 years ago. Fraser Island was originally named 'K'gari' by the Butchulla/Badtjala people who were the first to live on the Island. K'gari translates to 'paradise' which perfectly describes this island.
